About Us
We are four Sefton-based organisations that have joined forces to tackle homelessness in the borough under the name Sefton Supported Housing Group (SSHG).
The consortium has won a five-year contract from Sefton Council to deliver supported housing to Sefton’s homeless residents.
The consortium members are all well-established providers of housing-related services on Merseyside — The Bosco Society (the lead organisation), Venus, Excel Housing and New Start.
Supported housing
The new service is made up of 39 hostel places and 31 fully supported, dispersed tenancies across the borough.
Collectively the members of the SSHG consortium have a wealth of experience in delivering 24-hour hostel services, as well as in dispersed housing with integrated support.
Each client will be allocated a designated support worker who will assess their needs in depth and work with them to develop and agree a support plan to meet those needs.
The aim is to provide each client with the stability and support they require to move on to independent living.
The sit-up service
A sit-up service is also available in three locations for up to 15 people (five per site) at any one time. This takes rough sleepers off the streets and provides them with a safe, warm place in which to spend the night.
Each location will provide clients with a hot meal, washing and toilet facilities, a laundry to wash clothes and emergency clothing where necessary.
For many clients, using the sit-up service will be their first step on the road to independent living.
