The Bromborough restaurant has an arrangement with Wirral’s Homeless Community Interest Company (CIC), a non-profit organisation that supplies the homeless with food 365 nights a year, reports the Liverpool Echo. One night each month, Nando's supplies around 20 meals to the company, which delivers food to the YMCA night shelter in Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead - amounting to roughly 240 meals a year. The CIC calls on an army of volunteer cooks and drivers to prepare food at home and then deliver it to where it is needed. On its Facebook page, director Graham Wilson shared a picture of Nando's tasty offering, saying: "Our friends over at Nando's in Bromborough supplying all the meals tonight. We spend £150 + at Domino's every month treating our local homeless folk which is fine by us but for the record Nando's never charge us a penny and supply every month." Speaking to the ECHO, Mr Wilson said: "At the moment we are supplying about 22-24 meals a night, depending on the weather. Our meals are prepared fresh but every now and then we all like a treat or a takeaway. It puts a smile on their faces and a lot of the time they don't have a lot to look forward to." In response to the post, commentators heaped praise on the Nando's staff. Toni Malloney wrote: "Wonderful kindness from Nando's and thanks for your hard work Wirral Homeless." Pat Merrick said: "Things like this make me opt to go here when out looking for food!" Greg Hughes added: "Great to see Nando’s. well done. Makes me want to support Nando’s as a business now." Mr Wilson said Wirral's Homeless CIC calls on a group of around 100 volunteer cooks, a group known as Wirral's Homeless Angels. He said the Nando's restaurant manager is a member of the group and the gesture started from there. The company has also recruited youngsters in schools across the Wirral who help prepare meals. Well done Nando’s!
